Terms for donations

Short, because a donation is a simple thing: a gift for what has already been done.

  1. A donation to the Common Lisp Foundation is a gift, given in appreciation of what the Foundation and the projects it hosts have already done. It buys nothing: no service, no support, no feature, no priority, now or later.

  2. The Foundation spends a donation as it sees fit. A donation to a named campaign goes to that purpose as far as the Foundation is able; whatever is left when the purpose is met goes to the Foundation's general costs.

  3. The Foundation promises nothing in return for a donation and, to the extent the law allows, accepts no liability arising from one.

  4. Donations are not refunded, except where the law requires it. A payment made by mistake can be raised with the board at clf@cl-foundation.org.

  5. A monthly donation can be stopped at any time by writing to the same address; nothing is charged after that.

  6. Payments are handled by Stripe, which sends the receipt. The Foundation never sees your card, and keeps only the amount, the currency, the date and the campaign of each donation.

  7. Whether a donation is deductible from tax depends on where you live; the Foundation makes no statement about it.

  8. These terms are governed by the law of the Netherlands, where the Foundation is registered.
